extrAIM, expands for “AI-enhanced uncertainty quantification of satellite-derived hydroclimatic extremes” and is a two years project funded by European Space Agency (ESA), under the AI4SCIENCE call for proposals.
NTUA is the project coordinator and will work on development of a first-of-its-kind, satellite-based, low-latency, uncertainty-aware precipitation dataset for the Mediterranean region, adjusted to account for the extremes’ probabilistic behavior.
Other partners in the project: TETHYS Consulting (Athens, Greece) and CNR-IRPI (Perugia, Italy).
